So, just what is a Christian? Is a Christian the same as a disciple of Christ? Acts 11:26 says they were first called disciples before they were called Christians. I would think today it is the opposite. We are first called Christians and then maybe, if we are radical enough, we become disciples. Discipleship is not just for pastors, ministers, and missionaries. It is the charge from Jesus to all believers, the charge to a high calling. This is the word that defines the pressing purpose of the believer, whoever and wherever they are. “As you go,” as you live your life you first must become a fully devoted disciple and understand that your primary purpose is to make all people—everyone in your world, everyone you can touch—into disciples of Christ.
